Dahmer vs Gacy vs Austin

Ford Austin is relentless.  Every time I speak to him he’s developing a new project, in post on another, doing some acting AND in the middle of directing the next big thing.  He’s a madman.  His latest feature, Dahmer vs Gacy is currently in post and I’m in for visual effects.  On deck for this project:  exploding windows, news graphics and LOTS of virtual blood.  Google “Dahmer vs Gacy.”

What’s the Back Story?

Dedicated short film director Jeremy Lanni, the auteur of Noble Savage Productions brought me on board to provide visual effects for his new short Back Story.  I will be upping the ante for his opening credit effect and providing a delightfully hellish backdrop for a character later in the film.  Production starts in a couple of weeks — I can’t wait!

Trippin is Finished!

For the last year (at least) I’ve been heavily steeped in my first feature film with Deviant Pictures: trippin’. It’s a dark dramedy with horror elements that serves up real characters, a boldly original concept a puppet and a WAY freaked out drug trip courtesy of myself (visual effects director) and Wuhan Digital Media.

Two Days with Robert Miller

I spent a couple of days this week at Monster FX in Chatsworth working on some great, 50’s style space suits. He’s teaching me all about the dying art of foam construction and I’m loving every minute of it. If you’ve ever seen Star Trek: First Contact, Buffy, Power Rangers or a host of other sci-fi / monster romps, you’ve seen Robert’s work. For a more complete list of credits see his IMDB page.

Resume updated, Job intervew

I’ve updated my digital effects resume effective July, 2008. Also, I have an interview on Friday with Red 5 Studios in the Irvine area. By all appearances its a very exciting company staffed by some really cool people. Startups are a lot of fun–I’m really looking forward to meeting everybody and showing them what I can do. If I believed in luck, I’d ask you to wish it to me!

Harvy Putter and Kiran Shah

It was my great pleasure to spend the last 4 days with actor and stuntman Kiran Shah on the set of Harvey Putter and the Ridiculous Premise. I was a little nervous going in because I’m a bit of an outsider on this production but apparently positive reviews preceded me and I gelled very well with both Cast and Crew.

Death In Charge Premieres at AFI!

The short film “Death in Charge,” written and directed by Devi Snively for the AFI Directing Workshop For Women program premiered last night to a full house of enthusiastic patrons of our art.

I created the digital effects, real time video game footage and did some of the graphic design.

Beta testing theme–please report bugs!

I’ve got a couple more browsers to test but I think the theme is about done! Please report bugs by posting a comment to this threat. Thanks!

It’ll get a bit worse before it gets better…

Before the site just went haywire when I was working on it. For the next few days it will be a bit screwy even when I’m not. That’s because I’m reorganizing the categories and using several new ones that will be hidden or otherwise managed in the new design (but improperly handled on the current design).

Just a couple more days!

“Carnies” work starting this week!

I  just received word that I’m going to start the first digital effects shots for Carnies this week.  Woohoo!
